Hotel Questenberk has a long and rich history reaching back to the 17th century. This baroque building began offering accommodations in very comfortable rooms in a romantic style after its comprehensive reconstruction, which took place in 2003 and partially in 2008. The hotel is located just a short walk away from the Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral between the Strahov Monastery and Loreta right in the historical centre of “Golden Prague”. History
The building at the address Úvoz 15, Prague 1 – Hradčany, in which the Hotel QUESTENBERK originated following the extensive reconstruction in 2003, has a rich history reaching back to 1610. Questenberk Palace was built in 1665-68 along with the St. Elizabeth and St. Norbert Hospital by Hans Georg Gottwieck evidently from his own design. The façade went through high and late baroque modifications, during which a new staircase was built and the façade modified.
Rudolph II contributed to the establishment of the hospital, as is evident from his rescript from February 18th, 1610.
We actually know nothing about the actual hospital, nor when it was exactly built – its construction first appears much later, in 1622, under the Abbot Kašpar Questenberk, who is also the founder according to the descriptive panel above its entrance. While the construction of the original hospital grew from the foundations up, as period rhetoric reveals, it is likely that the structure of an older building got into the shell of the construction. The creator of this structure was evidently Melchior Meer, who worked for Questenberk in the 1620’s and 30’s.
The foundation instrument from 1625 has been preserved and it tells us that while the hospital stood on the monastery grounds, it was beyond the monastery gates, and it was endowed with “splendid work along with the chapel of its patron St. Elizabeth.' Today you can visit these places in our restaurant.
The surrounding terrain has also changed with respect to its original state, which was higher and only later dropped sharply to Úvoz Street. Access is provided by a later staircase from 1726 with stairs from the side, protected by a full balustrade, and supplemented by statuary with a Calvary collection. There is a striking statue of St. Mary Magdalene on one side of the reinforcing pillar at the accession to the stairs with a statue of St. John on the other side. There is a sandstone copy of a statue of the Virgin Mary of Sorrows under a cast-iron figure of the crucifixion from the 19th century in the middle of the staircase, projecting into the street in a semicircle.

Thank you so much for reserving this hotel for us. It was splendid. The 5 of us had single rooms and the Staff, especially the Management Staff at the front desk, couldn't do enough for us. I would really like to return to Prague and if/when I do, this Hotel will be my first choice. The location, up beside the Castle is terrific, given the integrated tram system with trams running every 3 or 4 minutes to the Charles Bridge area and the Church of the Infant of Prague - (22 tram stops right outside - next stop after Charles Bridge.)

excellent hotel at the top of quite a long drawn out hill but very nice and the rooms were clean and comfortable. we were in rooms 308 and 309 on the road side of the hotel and we were not disturbed by noise at all.
We booked a room with a view, but got a room with a bathroom size window up on the wall. There was a view alright if one climbed on a chair. We asked for another room, but unfortunately it was not possible.
The hotel is peaceful and close to the castle.

A delightful hotel: spacious, well-furnished and beautifully- maintained bedroom & bathroom; charming and welcoming staff; very generous breakfast. And, especially given Prague-St's deal, all at a very generous rate. Even in early March, much of Prague was densely packed with tourists but, high up on the hill, the Questenberk was a haven of tranquility! We loved it!! (Only ~ very small ~ qualification was that there was no way to make or find a hot drink there once the breakfast buffet had closed: presumably only because we were staying in the low season.)
For nearby eating, we recommend the Maly Buddha, across the road.

Discovered on Sunday excellent restaurant virtually opposite (as mentioned in Rough Guide books)very good value which just rounded off a lovely trip.Staff all helpful- even left a heart shaped balloon in room on bed (Valentines day) so very thoughtful and much appreciated.I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The hotel Questerberg is very nice but too far from the city center. Apart from that the restaurant of the hotel was closed which was a shame considering the location of the hotel.
The personnel was OK but no more and the hotel was extremely clean.
We were told all rooms with view but only 2 overlook the city!

The Questenberk was a great hotel from which to see Prague. The rooms were excellant and the hotel was situated in a very quiet spot with fantastic views away from the throng of the masses but near enough to stroll to almost all the major sites in the city. Nice hotel, but we were very dissapointed. My husbond celebrated his 60 ears birthday during our stay. Nobody congratulated him, and they did have all the chances to find it out, because they had our passports at our check inn.
Also we spend our christmas at the Hotel. Not one person wisched us a merry christmas. We have 2 times celebratet birthdays in Thailand - they could find out to offer us their best wisches.

We stayed at this fabulous hotel and enjoyed it so much that we returned for another stay after a trip to another city. The hotel rooms are charming, unique and clean. The breakfast, served in a room with an unmatched view of the city, was excellent, with many choices also. Last, but not least, all of the staff, including the manager and multiple reception personnel are impressively friendly, polite and efficient. We will be here again and recommend the hotel to all.

very comfortable family suite. A double bed rather than twin beds would have been appreciated, but the rooms had character and were of good size. Breakfast was excellent - the cold buffet in particular. Staff were helpful and courteous. We would stay there again. Finding the tram stop on Poherelec saved us from the nightly climb back up the hill!

The rooms and hotel were beautiful.
However the rooms we booked were not the rooms given, we booked 3 double deluxe rooms with a view and got 3 deluxe rooms with one having half a view and the other two rooms with no view at all.
We were informed that coffee making facilities were on all floors, this was only available on the ground floor.
We were on the 3rd and 4th floors and most of the time the lift was broken.
The bar should have been open from 6pm to 12midnight the bar was not open at all during our 4 nights stay. We used the smoking lounge next to the bar area for a cigarette one night and noticed that the staff had access to the bar but no guests were allowed a drink.
Our pick up time from the hotel was 6pm, we were out our room for 10.30am. When we returned from our last sight seeing and shopping at about 3.30pm we were not allowed to use the smoke lounge to relax. We were told that we could wait in the small reception area where there was seating for only 3 guests and there were 6 guests in our group and other guest were coming in and out.
Our luggage was supposed to be locked away while we were out on our last day but on our return at 3.30pm we found that the door to the luggage room was open. The staff were not friendly polite or helpful in anyway. We will not be recommending or returning to this hotel.

A very nice hotel, with charm, a good placement in prague high above the city, very nice personnel and in general with a good mood. My only downside remark is that if I book a double room with one bed i expect it to be one big bed and not a bed made by two beds thereby making an uncomfortable crack in the middle, but this was just a minor flaw in the overall experience of living here. Should I grade it, I would grade it 4/6 .

This side of the bridge is better suited for those who prefer a lower noise floor and less night life. A bit dissapointing that the hotel does not have a restaurant/pub. Thank you so much for reserving this hotel for us. It was splendid. The 5 of us had single rooms and the Staff, especially the Management Staff at the front desk, couldn't do enough for us. I would really like to return to Prague and if/when I do, this Hotel will be my first choice. The location, up beside the Castle is terrific, given the integrated tram system with trams running every 3 or 4 minutes to the Charles Bridge area and the Church of the Infant of Prague - (22 tram stops right outside - next stop after Charles Bridge.)

excellent hotel at the top of quite a long drawn out hill but very nice and the rooms were clean and comfortable. we were in rooms 308 and 309 on the road side of the hotel and we were not disturbed by noise at all.
We booked a room with a view, but got a room with a bathroom size window up on the wall. There was a view alright if one climbed on a chair. We asked for another room, but unfortunately it was not possible.
The hotel is peaceful and close to the castle.

A delightful hotel: spacious, well-furnished and beautifully- maintained bedroom & bathroom; charming and welcoming staff; very generous breakfast. And, especially given Prague-St's deal, all at a very generous rate. Even in early March, much of Prague was densely packed with tourists but, high up on the hill, the Questenberk was a haven of tranquility! We loved it!! (Only ~ very small ~ qualification was that there was no way to make or find a hot drink there once the breakfast buffet had closed: presumably only because we were staying in the low season.)
For nearby eating, we recommend the Maly Buddha, across the road.
Very pleased with our stay, thoroughly enjoyed it. Rooms lovely and warm in very cold February weekend.Views from dining area superb, close to Castle which was great to visit. Discovered on Sunday excellent restaurant virtually opposite (as mentioned in Rough Guide books)very good value which just rounded off a lovely trip.Staff all helpful- even left a heart shaped balloon in room on bed (Valentines day) so very thoughtful and much appreciated.I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The hotel Questerberg is very nice but too far from the city center. Apart from that the restaurant of the hotel was closed which was a shame considering the location of the hotel.
The personnel was OK but no more and the hotel was extremely clean.
We were told all rooms with view but only 2 overlook the city!
I will not give 4 stars to such a place

The Questenberk was a great hotel from which to see Prague. The rooms were excellant and the hotel was situated in a very quiet spot with fantastic views away from the throng of the masses but near enough to stroll to almost all the major sites in the city. Would highly recommend. You should also visit the Brewery resturant in the Monastery next door great food at great prices. Mike & Nelly

Nice hotel, but we were very dissapointed. My husbond celebrated his 60 ears birthday during our stay. Nobody congratulated him, and they did have all the chances to find it out, because they had our passports at our check inn.
Also we spend our christmas at the Hotel. Not one person wisched us a merry christmas. We have 2 times celebratet birthdays in Thailand - they could find out to offer us their best wisches.

The hotel is situated in excellent location near to the castle and the monastery. We had a family suit which was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent in the breakfast room with wonderful views of the city.We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Questenberk very much.

We stayed at this fabulous hotel and enjoyed it so much that we returned for another stay after a trip to another city. The hotel rooms are charming, unique and clean. The breakfast, served in a room with an unmatched view of the city, was excellent, with many choices also. Last, but not least, all of the staff, including the manager and multiple reception personnel are impressively friendly, polite and efficient. We will be here again and recommend the hotel to all.

very comfortable family suite. A double bed rather than twin beds would have been appreciated, but the rooms had character and were of good size. Breakfast was excellent - the cold buffet in particular. Staff were helpful and courteous. We would stay there again. Finding the tram stop on Poherelec saved us from the nightly climb back up the hill!

The rooms and hotel were beautiful.
However the rooms we booked were not the rooms given, we booked 3 double deluxe rooms with a view and got 3 deluxe rooms with one having half a view and the other two rooms with no view at all.
We were informed that coffee making facilities were on all floors, this was only available on the ground floor.
We were on the 3rd and 4th floors and most of the time the lift was broken.
The bar should have been open from 6pm to 12midnight the bar was not open at all during our 4 nights stay. We used the smoking lounge next to the bar area for a cigarette one night and noticed that the staff had access to the bar but no guests were allowed a drink.
Our pick up time from the hotel was 6pm, we were out our room for 10.30am. When we returned from our last sight seeing and shopping at about 3.30pm we were not allowed to use the smoke lounge to relax. We were told that we could wait in the small reception area where there was seating for only 3 guests and there were 6 guests in our group and other guest were coming in and out.
Our luggage was supposed to be locked away while we were out on our last day but on our return at 3.30pm we found that the door to the luggage room was open. The staff were not friendly polite or helpful in anyway. We will not be recommending or returning to this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Questenberk immensely. Friendly, helpful staff that goes out of its way to accommodate your needs. Tasteful and simple decor, and wonderful views of the city. We liked staying up on the hill near the castle, and found several excellent restaurants only a few blocks away. Breakfast was lovely, in a light, airy room.

A very nice hotel, with charm, a good placement in prague high above the city, very nice personnel and in general with a good mood. My only downside remark is that if I book a double room with one bed i expect it to be one big bed and not a bed made by two beds thereby making an uncomfortable crack in the middle, but this was just a minor flaw in the overall experience of living here. Should I grade it, I would grade it 4/6 .

Great hotel with good service and nice personel. Very clean, spotless! Location is superb, very quiet, and close to the castle. This side of the bridge is better suited for those who prefer a lower noise floor and less night life. A bit dissapointing that the hotel does not have a restaurant/pub. Only breakfast is served in the hotel.
