Great location (close to Prague Castle), this hotel is good for what you paid for. We stayed in a budget room and the room was huge. The breakfast is plentiful too.

This was an extremely basic hotel. It was in a good location however. Honestly though, for the price we paid we were expecting a bit more quality, less mold in the show and more amenities like a functioning tv for example. What is it with these cheaper hotels that can't get basic cable tv working?

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis Hotel for 3 nights at the end of May. We had an economy room which was very basic but large and clean. Clean towels were provided every day. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was at the top of the building so several flights of stairs had to be climbed. Our cases were carried up for us. Breakfast had plenty of variety for our tastes. The location in Lesser Town is quieter than the Old Town which suited us. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends.

Maybe I'm a little fussy, but I didn't find the staff very friendly and I wasn't sure i was even in the right place when i arrived, the reception was tucked away in the back. The cleanliness was excellent, but they could do with keeping an eye on the maintenance of the hotel. Over all I would recomend this hotel, but don't expect it to be amazing, you get what you pay for.

We truly enjoyed our stay at Aureus Clavis 28-30/9. Economy room was superclean and spaciuos and the location was perfect. You need to know that there is no elevator in the building and the economy room we stayed in is on the 3rd floor. No problem for us at all, but good to think about when booking. We loved the place and would recomend it to anyone who looks for a good place to stay in Prague.

Just got back from Prague last weekend (26 to 28 Sep 08) Had a fantastic time, this hotel was perfect for our needs in both location, and comfort. The rooms were clean & spacious, the en-suites were clean & comfortable. Breakfast was very good (continental) and we liked the timings (up to 11 o'clock.) It is located in the Lesser town, only a short walk from the Charles bridge, and minutes from Prague castle. This suited us better as it was quieter on a night away from the busier Old town side, but within easy striking distance. Would definitely stop here again, good rates, good location, good service.

Stayed in Aureus Clavis last weekend. The room was beyond our expectation; comfortable beds, hot shower and cosy rooms. The location is great, nextdoor to the Prague Castel and a good startingpoint for other city attractions. This hotel made our stay in Praque very pleasant!

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis hotel recently. The hotel is in a great location. Many of the cities attractions were within easy walking distance. It was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our accommodation was to the front and we did find the street a little noisy. However, I would still recommend it.

Aureus Clavis hotel is very near to St. Nicholas Church, Charles Bridge and Major Tram Lines. It is also very near to the shrine of Infant Jesus. The hotel is very conveniently located, neat and clean with very courteous staff and is for sure great value for money.

We stayed in a standard room. It was beautiful, very spacious, on the street side but we weren't bothered by the noise. The hotel is in an excellent location - handy to all the sights, but away from the crazy tourist bustle of the Old Town. Much more character than a regular chain hotel, and a much better value. We thought the breakfast was just fine, and very similar to what we encountered all over Europe. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient, clean, comfortable room with character at a great price!

The hotel is nice. But the lady manager (unfortunately I did not ask her name. But she is a pretty lady) was really nice and helpful to make my visit to Prague better. I did not know anything when I arrived. She explained many things patiently and gave me many options to pick.

15.06.08 Nice hotel. Room basic but clean. Had a room on the third floor so not too many stairs to climb which was great as the hotel itself is up a fairly steep hill! Breakfast served from 9am-11am which suited us but was again quite simple. Staff v friendly.

Aureus Clavis Hotel is wonderfully located, many of the special sites of Prague are in walking distance; trams nearby. But breakfast was not served until 9 am--so visitors who like to get an early start may be at a disadvantage.

We stayed in Aureus Clavis from 7-10 May and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is located beautifully, near the castle. The street is steep, be prepared to climb a bit, but it is worth it. Cosy, not too fancy, but clean and friendly staff. We had a room on the 5th floor, just below the attic. Not noisy because it wasn't on the street side. breakfast is plain, but sufficient, because there are a lot of other places in the neighbourhood to sit, eat and drink for not too much money. Prague is definitely worth a visit, and I would recommend this hotel!

Aureus Clavis Hotel was very nice in a perfect location. Clean, large room, clean bathroom, good breakfast. You have to be fit to climb the 4 flights of stairs. The staff is very helpful. An economy room is a basic room with no frills. Great if you're out all day and just need a place to sleep.

5.05.2008 - four of us stayed for four nights at the end of April. We were in economy rooms - one in the attic and on the floor below. The attic room was fine but the other room was rather noisy and sparcely furnished (only one chair). Breakfast excellent with good choice and the location was brilliant. The staff could not have been more helpful.

The hotel is quirky which I loved, much better than the sameness of hotel chains. Staff were very friendly and our room was huge with a three seater sofa, chairs and kingsize bed. Loved the hotel and its location.

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis from 14-16 Feb 2008 and were very impressed with the standard of the room and the helpfulness of the staff. We had asked for a twin, which was not available, so they gave us a three-bedroom (2 room) suite at no extra cost. Check out was very flexible, we stayed until 4pm on the day of departure, again at no extra cost. Small areas to improve: breakfast was very simple, greater choice would be good; and the wooden stairs mean that you can hear guests arriving at all hours of the night - more soundproffing? But overall, well recommended

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis Hotel from 31.01.08 - 04.02.08 and we had a very enjoyable stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful and hotel rooms are very very clean, however there is no lift. It is situated very close to the centre of Prague, only 7 minutes walk from the Charles Bridge and about 2 minutes from Prague Castle.

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis from 27.12.07 to 01.01.08. I would have no hesitation in recommending it. The location is excellent -5 mins from Prague Castle. The street outside is full of really quaint shops and restaurants (and very reasonable too) The hotel is beautiful -full of character. It felt really 'old world'...Breakfast served until 11 was another good point. Staff were really nice. A real find....

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis for 3 nights from 27.12-30.12.07. We booked the economy room as the description and the pictures on the website looked inviting. After arrival we were more than disappointed. The bathroom had a large patch of mould to the shower and the ceiling had a large patch of mould over the toilet which looked like water had leaked through. That was not what we expected after seeing the lovely pictures on the website. According to the description there should have been a TV, but that was not there either. We complained to the manager and after a short discussion about the fact that we had booked an economy room (which still should be clean) we were offered a better room at no extra charge. That room was absolutely fine. Apart from that, the hotel was in a very good location, breakfast was fine and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The Pizzas in the restaurant are great.

The hotel is very clean, warm and staff are very friendly and helpful. would definately stay here again.

Location could not be better and simple style and quirky layout highlights the fact that you are in an historic building. A refreshing change from the usual sameness of most hotels! Breakfast was adequate and considering the proximity of so many cafes a more hearty offering would have spoiled the mid-morning snacks. With the main sight on the doorstep and 10 mins seeing you in the main square via Charles Bridge we could not have been happier with our stay at this hotel.

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis from 1st Dec 07 to 4th Dec07 and wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel was very clean, romm was warm and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and the location was just right. We were pleased that we had picked the Castle side of the Charles Bridge as we would probably not have found the areas around the hotel, lovely streets, bars etc.

Lovely hotel, friendly staff and breakfast was fine - buffet style which lasted us almost until our evening meal! Our room was up 5 flights of stairs which after a day exploring the sights and then walking back up the hill to the hotel was a bit of an effort!! However, location was fantastic, room was spacious and clean and bed was very comfy. Would recommend...(along with the tea-shop just down the hill...)

My husband and I stayed from 22 to 26th October and really had a good time. The location of the hotel is excellent. Staff are friendly, room was psartan but tasteful and spacious. We had a lovely time at the hotel and really enjoyed our trip to Prague. I liked the quirky arrangement of accommodation within the historical building. Cleanliness was excellent. Breakfast was sparse but very adequate. There were no disappointments with the accommodation. I would definitely return and recommend the hotel to others

Me and my Boyfriend stayed here last weekend and we couldnt have asked for more. The room was lovely, clean, had beautiful wooden beams and even had CNN :o) Its a very friendly hotel, staff will do anything for you, i didnt have a plug adaptor or a hair dryer, but they provided me with both when i asked. Breakfast is enjoyable, cereal, toast with jam, fruit, yoghurt, tea and coffe, what more can you want! As for the location.... superb! you are literally underneath the castle almost, which by the way is beautiful, and it is right near everything. A small walk down the hill and you have charles bridge and the new town with all the shops etc and too many resturants to choose from! Overall it was a fabulous weekend away, very quiet and relaxed with beautiful surroundings. The hotel isnt flashy and fancy, its beautifully basic, which describes prague perfectly. Thank you to all the staff and prague.st for your help and assistance!

The hotel was verz clean and very centrallz located. It was walking distance to both the Charles bridge and the prague castle. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was sick and needed a late check out the last day of our visit since our train left in the¨late after noon. The staff accommodated us without a fuss or any extra charges. The breakfast buffet is great and I liked that the service started at ¨9 am instead of seven, a¨and lasted until 11 am. The hotel is tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the very busy tourist locations with the advantage of being very central.¨We will definately go back.

07.06.2007 Stayed overnight, 2 couples, enjoyed the stay, very convenient location just minutes away from the castle area or Karl's Bridge and Old Town, somewhat hard to find as no hotel name sign outside the hotel. Parking not possible closeby, used Pyramida Hotel ca 1 km away ca 10 Euro for 24 hrs guarded parking. Rooms very bright, spacious and clean. Missing was blinds or darker curtain to allow a perfect good night sleep. Very quite rooms facing the backyard. Breakfast satisfactory. Would recommend the hotel for further stay or to others.

We stayed here mid May 2007. Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is close to the castle on one of the quieter streets in the Little Quarter, central Prague. Rooms are large, basic and kept very clean. Breakfast was 9 to 11, which suited us, but there isn't a great choice. The hotel has some very good bars and restaurants nearby, and is approximately 5 minutes walk from the nearest tram stop. Overall, a good hotel!

We stayed at the Aureus Clavis the last week in May. It's an older refurbished buiding without a lift but an ideal nice & quiet location in the old town, close to the castle. Room was spacious and clean, and quite well appointed for the price. (clean towels every day but continental Hotels would do well to provide a kettle, coffee and tea etc, but they never seem to! prefering satellite TV with only CNN in English) I was happy with the room and enjoyed the continental breakfast - who wants a full english in Prague? Anyway eat as much as you like and we found the selection more than adequate. Coffee was was in a coffee butler & hot enough for me but if you asked for more they brought it fresh. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, explained the transport system and how to use it. theyw ill accept almost any combination of currencies, not just Euros suggested, as I found out when I realised I was short of euros) All in all a nice Hotel and good location, definitely not 5 stars yet but I would orefer it to many so called 5 stars I have been to. Would stay there again.

We stayed at the Auerus Clavis for seven nights at the end of March, taking advantage of the introductory offer of 79 Euros a night for a standard room. Proprietor was very helpful and accommodating especially as we had an evening flight so anticipated a late arrival. As it was we arrived at 11.30pm due to our flight being delayed (typical Easyjet) but the owner was very obliging; for our part we kept him informed of our delay. The hotel is located half way up Nerudova just five minutes walk from both the castle and Charles Bridge. Nerudova is a bustling and intriguing street by day but come the evening it becomes eerily quiet. This made for a peaceful stay but we did however prefer to dine in busier areas where there was more of an atmosphere. Although Nerudova is on a gentle slope you do not need to be particularly fit to walk up it. In fact, the hotels location and proximity to the attractions of Prague is one of the best aspects of this hotel. Don’t forget to look out for the plaques above the doorways of some of the buildings on Nerudova; these were used instead of house numbers in times gone past. Our room was large and tastefully decorated but sparsely furnished. There was a double bed, two bedside tables, two chairs, coffee table and a half-size wardrobe. We could have done with another wardrobe to put some of our clothes in rather than living out of a suitcase. Unfortunately no drinks making facilities were provided. As you would expect from a newly furbished hotel the rooms were very clean and modern. The fit and finish however did leave something to be desired with every hole in the wall having been drilled at least twice and things like the toilet seat being fitted skew-if so it wouldn’t stand up. This does raise a question is our minds as to how well the rooms will stand up to the job in the long term but is something we cannot judge. Breakfast, served between 9am and 11am, was a Continental buffet offering ready-made fruit tea and coffee; orange juice; cheap ham and cheese; jam; Nutella; two types of bread; and apples. Whilst you could eat as much as you pleased we did feel it would be basic if you were paying full price and occasionally the coffee/tea was cold. The proprietors were very friendly, spoke good English and very attentive to the needs of the guests. My biggest gripe with this hotel was their insistence of having to pay in Euros rather than Czech Crowns. I am not entirely sure of their logic given the Czech Republic is not part of the Euro zone and travellers from both within and outside the Euro zone would have to either bring cash or travellers cheques. Either way it was hassle for us because the hotel charged a premium for using a card to pay so we took travellers cheques (in Euros) but had no idea how difficult it would be to cash the 50 Euro cheque and of the ubiquitous charges to cash the cheques. My advice would be to take cash and store it in the hotels safety deposit box. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay in Prague but would not recommend this hotel. The location of the hotel was excellent, breakfast filling if not exciting and the owners the perfect host. The rooms were generous in size but finish poor and could have done with more furniture. However given the price currently being charged (105 Euros) for rooms we think the quality of the breakfast and finish in the rooms is not up to scratch.

We drew the short straw when it came to the economy rooms, our friends had the ground floor ( This friend had a hip replacement not that long ago, so we couldnt expect him to climb the ladder up to the room). We made it ok my husband is 72yrs old, getting the suitcase up was a bit of a tricky but we managed ok! Every thing was nice and clean and fresh. Very quiet most of the time. Very helpful staff , so kind and pleasant. we will recommend it to every one we know who are making the trip.

I stayed for just one night; arriving in Prague by air I found the hotel by means of bus and tram easy. At around eight in the evening I was showed directly to a room that was extremely clean and well presented. I was able to walk into the 'centre' within a few minutes to see Prague and the river 'by night', and walked back to the hotel street for a selection of great looking restaurants to choose from for my evening meal. I chose an Itallian a few doors away for a superb pasta. Returning to the hotel, I heard not one sound all niight (no slamming doors, noisy guests or traffic noise). Accordingly, I had a sound night's sleep before a very pleasant breakfast and effortless check-out. I stay in around 40 hotels a year through my work .... from 5 Star to 2 star. Hotel Clavis gets may not have 5 Stars .... but, this customer thinks of Hotel Clavis, Prague as 5 star. Excellent, and thank you !!

My mother and I stayed for 4 nights over the Easter Weekend and loved our stay. We really found the cool young team of staff, extremely helpful and accomodating. We discovered our room was up lots of stairs on arriving very late at night, which wasn't suitable for us, but the following morning the staff gave us a room on the bottom floor as luckily it was free, although I suspect not economy. Yes the breakfast was basic in choice, but I'm sure they'll expand the selection slightly - and I loved the crockery! The reception/breakfast room has been designed with great taste and I particularly liked the mix of contemporary and antique...very stylish. What was great about our stay was although small areas of continuing work are clearly being done on the hotel (although nothing major), much was achieved in terms of the courtyard in the 4 days we were there and it was lovely to see them progressing with their ideas - we can't wait to some back soon and see all the finishing touches - we felt quite attached to the place when we had to leave.

We stayed at the Aureus Calvis for 4 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The Hotel is very good value for money. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were basic but spotless. Other than sleeping we did not spend very much time at the hotel as there is far too much to see and do in the city! Would definitely recommend it to anyone. The Castle and cathedral were both very close whihc was very handy and it was only a short walk to Charles Bridge.

Very well situated, interesting building still being renovated, friendly helpful staff. Economy rooms are at the top (4 stories and no lift!) which is not stated in the description. And yes, breakfast is poor but hey who cares! This is a good place for the price.

Booked due to the low introductory offer and the fact it is new hotel. I don't think we have stayed in a room which was so big it!, it was nicley decorated and was very impressed with the room, containing a sette and two arm chairs in addition to the bed. The location is spot on close to the castle and the cathedral, which makes it nice and quiet at night. The staff were friendly and I have to admit the plans they have to fully renovate the hotel sound impressive and we would like to visit again once done, as I'm sure it will be to a high standard observed currently. Overall, very impressed, a nice hotel in a great spot and we will look to return once fully renovated. Breakfast was basic admitedly, but there are plenty of places to eat anyway so was not an issue for us.

We were happy with the hotel, could'nt have been in a better position, staff friendly, rooms clean. Wish the coffee was hotter and not so strong. We would like to visit again in a couple of years, when all the renovation work is complete. Then I will request a ground floor room, the attic is not good for someone in their late sixties!

My husband and I booked to stay at Aureus Clavis because of the low introductory price of 55 Euro/night. The location is fantastic being on the quieter side of the river and close to the Cathedral. Understandably the economy room we booked was compact and quite sparse of furniture (double wardrobe but no draws, chairs or blinds)and the lack of air conditioning would be a problem in hot weather; however, the recent renovations meant it was spotless. The walls were exceedingly thin on the top floor where our room was located and you could hear a pin drop, but all residents seemed to acknowledge this and keep the noise down. One big disappointment was the breakfast consisting of a cold baguette with choice of marmalade, nutella or cheese. Overall we got what we paid for, but I would not stay again at full economy or standard price. rUnderstandably, the economy room we booked was basic andfor 4 nights
