Bertramka, the home of a musician family of Dušek’s, is where Mozart completed his opera Don Giovanni the night before its premiere in Prague’s Estates theatre. After a fire that badly damaged the beautiful villa in the 19th century, it was renovated and later turned into Mozart’s museum and an occasional place for classical concerts. Apart from Mozart’s work written in hand and the instruments that he played, the collection is very small, but the beautiful house with its rococo furniture and a breathtaking garden is worth the trip – Bertramka is in Smíchov, a part of Prague 10 minutes from the city centre by public transport.
