Powder Gate
Built in the 15th century during the reign of Vladislav II, Czech king from the Jagellon dynasty, it was one of many Prague’s entrances to the Old Town. Its late-Gothic style is unique and the tower gained a neo-Gothical renovation and decoration in the 19th century. At a height of 65 metres, the best-known Prague’s gate got its name in the 17th century when it was used to store gunpowder during the Thirty Year War. Today, it hosts a small exhibition about the tower’s history and is open for tourists. USEFUL LINKS |
