Clementinum
The largest complex of buildings in Prague, only topped by the Prague Castle, it was formerly a Jesuit college established in the Catholic-oriented 17th century, reacting upon the religious conflicts between the Protestants and Catholics. After Mary Theresa of Austria banished the Jesuits in 1773, the Charles University of Prague took some parts of it, leaving the rest to the Prague’s National Library. One of the most beautiful parts of the Clementinum complex is the Mirror Chapel, with amazing Baroque interior and great acoustics, making it a favorite place for concerts USEFUL LINKS |
