Church of Our Lady of the Snows

The building’s construction was started by Charles IV in the 14th century who saw it as the future biggest church building in Prague, however it was never completed. A Hussite location during the Hussite Movement, it was a place where Jan Želivský, who believed in the vision of Jan Hus, gave his revolutionary speeches supporting the visions of a sin-free church. After he was executed by a Church council, just like his idol, he was buried here. In the 17th century, the building was reconstructed by the Franciscans who gave the church the most amazing garden in Prague, the Franciscan Garden. Today it is a public park right close to the chaotic Wenceslas Square and offers peaceful atmosphere during day, but turns into a dangerous meeting point of drug dealers at night.
