Petřín

This Prague hill with numerous parks and a view on Prague Castle, whole Lesser Town and other parts of the city, is a perfect place for a summer stroll or a picnic. Both tourists and residents like to spread their blankets on the grass and enjoy the panorama.
On the top of Petřín, there is the famous Petřín Tower, a 60 metres high observation point built to resemble the Eiffel Tower. One of the most noticeable things when looking down from the hill is a huge 14th century Hunger Wall – it was built by the poor people of Prague during a famine. It was initiated by Charles IV who wanted to help people earn their food. The top of Petřín hill is accessible by a funicular leading from Újezd or on foot from the Prague Castle.
