Perhaps the best-known Prague synagogue and also the oldest one in Europe, it was built in the 13th century in Gothic style. Its architecture and interiors are in tone with the religious purpose of the building. On the eastern wall is the Holy Ark with Torah scrolls kept in it and walls are inscribed with Hebrew signs.
