Old Royal Palace

This part of the Prague Castle is the oldest and most historically valuable one, dating back from 1135. Being the seat of Bohemian princes and later kings from 13th to 16th century, it served as a king’s palace. Vladislav Hall, in the centre of the palace, was used for coronations, banquets and councils, making it the ceremonial and political centre of the Prague Castle. The Ludvík wing of the Old Royal Palace is famous because of its 1618 defenestration, starting the Czech religious conflicts in the 17th century.
