Archbishop Palace
Ferdinand I, the first Habsburg ruler in the Czech Kingdom and a powerful force in the Prague Castle’s changes in the Renaissance period, bought the palace in 1562. Ever since, it has been the seat of Prague archbishops. During the religious conflicts in the 17th century, the building became a hated symbol of Catholic domination of Prague and Czech lands. Visiting the palace is nearly impossible, for it is open for public only one day before Good Friday – for the rest of the year, it remains closed. USEFUL LINKS |
